Welcome to Scene Online:
Scene Online is a new concept in providing eyecatching, pure and
honest web services for communities - and anyone who needs a simple route
to a stylish web presence. The initial function is to produce town or village portals-with a
difference! So often, this type of site falls into one of two categories:
Garish, blatantly advertising oriented link farms with little or no local
knowledge / interest OR enthusiastic but amateur local hobby sites.
What's So Different about Scene Online?:
Scene Online aims to combine and perfect the two concepts to provide the
ULTIMATE local community portal. To achieve this we believe that local knowledge
and involvement is crucial, and that the design should reflect the character of
the community. Furthermore, just as no one would want to sit and read through a
printed publication which contains only adverts, we feel that the site should be
worthwhile, interesting and entertaining, with a magazine style format.
Our Mission Statement:
- That the design should be classic, attractive and user friendly.
- That any advertising should be tasteful and relevant.
- That it should provide a helpful service to the Community, with free
sections for local societies to feature their news and events.
- That it should have a comprehensive Local Directory, featuring
businesses and all essential local amenities from Doctors to Taxis.
- That it should provide an easy economical platform for small local
businesses to achieve a web presence.
- That over and above this it should feature INTERESTING content - local news, magazine
articles, local history, a virtual neighbourhood watch, genealogy, Old
Friends Search, Family Notices....plus some innovative features we're not prepared to reveal
yet!!
- That it should enable community involvement through
provision of blogs, galleries and forums.
- That it should be an ongoing process, constantly updated and developed.
Scene Online is the concept of a dedicated web / magazine
publisher and freelance journalist of 20 years standing.
Our flagship site is currently in the final stages
of development and is due online in June 2008. Ultimately the format
will be franchised out to other areas. Selected applicants must have
the experience and knowledge - both local and in basic website editing - to run
the site to the required standards.
